This 1 Omani rial banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Oman in 2015 to commemorate the 45th National Day, the day when Sultan Qaboos bin Said overthrew his father and celebrated his birthday and becoming Sultan of Oman. The purple note has dimensions of 140 mm x 71 mm, the corrected Hijiri date, and the signature of Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Its obverse side features Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Omani coat of arms, and the Al Alam Palace in Muscat. Its reverse side features flowers, the desert white butterflies (Pontia glauconome), the 45th National Day logo, and the Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat. Security features of the note include a khanjar registration device, a two-tone windowed security thread, and a watermark of Sultan Qaboos. This note won the Special Achievement Award at the 2017 Security Currency Printing Conference in Azerbaijan. This banknote has been graded 66 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
