The Persian Gulf 10-rupee note, also known as the Gulf Rupee, was a special external currency issued by the Reserve Bank of India in 1959. These notes were exclusively circulated in Gulf countries like Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and the UAE to prevent the smuggling of Indian currency and gold.
